Does your cat hate going to the vet?

You realize that your cat hasn’t been themselves and you need to take them to the vet. You grab out the dusty carrier and all of a sudden your cat is nowhere to be seen. After finally finding them, you try your best to put them in the carrier. Multiple scratches later, you were able to successfully put them in. Off to the vets office you go. But the heartache doesn’t end there! Your cat begins meowing at the top of their lungs to get out of the prison you just put them in. You get to the vets only to be told that your cat is too “fractious” and it needs sedation. You try your best to tell the staff that your cat is usually so sweet, and not usually like this. Does this sound familiar to you? Then you are not alone!

Cats do not like change! They are more than happy to stay home and never go into a car in their life!

Mobile veterinary care is the way of the future

What’s old is new again! There are other options available than having to go through all of that stress of taking your cat to a vet clinic. You can have it all done in your home now!

Here are some of the reasons why you should choose a mobile vet:

  1. COMFORT FOR YOU AND YOUR PET

Imagine not ever having to stuff your cat into a carrier to get them checked out by a vet. The vet team comes right to your door and gives your cat time to get used to their voices and smells. 90% of the time, most cats will come out and greet our teams. If your cat is part of the 10% of cats that won’t approach us, then we have options for that as well.

We can either do exams in a bathroom for these kitties. When a cat has no line of sight for an exit, they usually calm down enough to have exams and procedures done. We also have Thundershirts on hand to use as an anxiety-reducing technique. This mixed with some pre-sedation gabapentin can do wonders for those cats that are terrified of new people.

2. MORE TIME WITH THE VET

You no longer have only 15 minutes with the vet! When the vet comes to you, you have 60 minutes to have all of your questions and concerns answered about your pet. You get a more personalized veterinary experience where you can create a relationship with the same veterinarian for all of your pets appointments. You and your cat are our number one priority and you get the vet teams undivided attention.

3. YOUR CAT IS NEVER BROUGHT TO THE BACK!

Often when you bring your cat to the vet clinic, and they have to get a procedure done, they will often take them to the back of the clinic where you can’t see what is going on. When you have a mobile vet come to you, everything is done right in front of you. Most pets do a lot better when their owners are with them and they are in the comfort of their own home.

4. CONVENIENCE

Are you very busy and have no time to carve out of your day to get to the vet’s office? We have a lot of clients that have us come over, tell us the history, and have to get back to work while we do everything we need to do with their cat.

5. DO YOU HAVE MULTIPLE PETS?

Transporting multiple cats can be very stressful for both you and them. Also have you experienced bringing one cat into the clinic, to have the rest of the cats hiss at them when they come home? They smell different and can’t recognize them which can often lead to inter-cat aggression that can take months to fix. This doesn’t happen with home visits. So if you have a cat that is anxious, a mobile vet visit is probably the best option for you.

6. MORE ACCURATE RESULTS

When your cat is stressed they release certain hormones that can affect the results of blood tests, and blood pressure readings and they may not show us the proper pain responses in an exam. This all happens before they get to the vet clinic. The stress of the carrier and car ride is enough to jack up stress hormones in their body. We are often able to see more accurate results when these tests are done in their own home, on “cat time”.

7. MOBILE DOES NOT MEAN LIMITED

We can do almost anything that a regular brick-and-mortar vet clinic can do. Your cat can receive:

  • Annual vaccines and health check

  • Bloodwork, urinalysis, and cytology

  • Small lump removals and laceration repairs

  • Blood pressure and blood glucose readings

  • Nail trims, ear cleaning, mat removals

  • Sedation

  • On-site pharmacy

  • Microchipping

  • Euthanasia and quality of life assessments

  • Online boutique to purchase food, toys, and treats

There are a couple of things we are unable to do as mobile vets, but we have multiple clinics that we work with that we can refer you to if any of these procedures are needed.

  • Xrays

  • Spays/neuters or any major surgery that requires a general anesthetic

  • Dentals

We would love the opportunity to help you and your cat have a more positive experience with a vet. Give us a call today to book your mobile vet appointment.
